Jared Hellings, PsyD

Clinical Psychologist, Washington State (#60068969)

I completed a bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Central Washington University and a doctorate in clinical psychology (PsyD) at the American School for Professional Psychology at Argosy University.

As part of my PsyD training, I completed a one-year internship at the University of Washington Counseling Center and then a two year postdoctoral fellowship at the Argosy University training clinic. Much of my graduate training experiences included providing therapy and assessments to college students. I am a member of the American Psychological Association, the Washington State Psychological Association, and the Learning Disability Association of Washington.

After getting licensed in 2009, I joined a group practice in Everett where I provided therapy and evaluations. I moved to my own office in Edmonds in May of 2014.

Why I Became a Therapist

Prior to graduate school, I worked at a residential treatment center for children and teenagers. Most of the kids had a range of mental health disorders, but also significant family stressors and parents with their own struggles that resulted in them losing custody of their kids. My experiences working in that setting was incredibly rewarding. I later worked with foster kids through the YMCA foster care program. Again, this was a very rewarding opportunity to work with kids who were able to leave the residential settings and move on to families. My experiences working with this population inspired me to return to school and complete my graduate degree.

I have always been drawn to helping others. The therapy experience is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for people to sit in a non-judgmental atmosphere and explore the most difficult emotions and challenges facing them. It is a great honor to be a therapist.
